I love weddings!
So, you can understand my palpable joy when Tinuke called me 5
weeks ago that she would be walking down the aisle very soon.
I was indeed overjoyed with the news not just because it’s another
wedding, but because it’s Tinuke’s. I mean, TINUKE IS
GETTING MARRIED, and to Dahun.
Some four plus years ago, I was privileged to work at close
quarters with Tinuke under the auspices of our Students’ Fellowship*, she being
the Assistant General Secretary, while I was the General Secretary. And within
that one year of our service together, a deep friendship blossomed which has
remained strong and memories of the great times keep resonating till this day.
...Gen Sec twice...the two AGSs I served with - Amanda and Tinuke
I cannot easily disremember that hyperactive, intelligent, ever-smiling,
loving
-to-a-fault and efficient assistant (not to forget, she could be heady too *tongue out*). Tinuke was supportive yet opinionated; would never oppose me in public, yet was not one to hide her views when it mattered most. With a listening ear and a loving heart, she was ever ready to share your burdens and empathize no matter the inconvenience it caused her.

And Could Tinuke pray? You bet. I remarked to my fiancée this
evening, how Tinuke joined me more times into THE NET** to pray than I went by
myself. Such were the burdens we had praying together for the fellowship and
for our lives that 4 years after, prophecies we spoke at our mini-prayer
meetings are still being fulfilled.
Tinuke,
I am extremely delighted that you will be walking down that aisle
tomorrow to be joined to the man of your dreams. I am grateful for the times
shared. I am grateful for the fights we had and for standing up to me when it
mattered most but I am more grateful that you never really carried out your
threat to beat me up or bite my nose. (lol)
...does she look like she can beat me up? hahahahahaha
Atinuke and Oludahun,
My
prayers are that
Your sons be as plants grown up in their youths,
Your daughters be as cornerstones, polished after the similitude
of a palace
Your storehouses be full of all manner of good things
Your streams of incomes continue to multiply
Your strength never run dry
Your home will be a model to upcoming families
God’s joy continues to emanate from your home. Ps. 144:12–14 (My
paraphrase)
hmmm...tomorrow...
I look forward to carrying your babies and seeing you guys in ripe
old age.
I will like to end this with a confession which I instituted in my
mini-prayer meetings with Tinuke. It was always our closing confession –
Every day and in every way, we are getting
better and better, we are going higher and higher, we are growing wiser and
wiser.
God bless you two, and God bless your home.
I wish you the greatest "ever after".
See you at the wedding!

**THE NET is an open area in the Sports Complex of OAU where
students used to go to pray. At its peak time, it was said that there would be
a student praying in THE NET anytime of the day and night you visited
